Computer Information Technology

About

This program is designed to provide students with first hand knowledge of the software, hardware, and operations of personal computers used in business and industry today.  Many aspects of the personal computer including how it works, how data is processed, and how to apply the functions to solutions on the job are explored in the CIT training.  The program consists of studies in the major operating systems, diagnostics, plus configuration of computers and their related peripheral devices.

Networking students are introduced to networks through lectures, demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on labs.  Installations of both attended and unattended servers are performed using various file systems.  Students are taught how to install and administer active directory services and how to manage service objectives.

Students will monitor systems performance; administer Internet Information Services; and administer user accounts, group accounts, group policies, and print services.  Networking students learn how to administer and maintain network protocols and services such as virtual private networking, routing and remote access services, DHCP, WINS, and DNS.  Data backup, disaster protection, and recovery from a disaster are also covered in the Server + course.  Also covered in Server + is its hardware environment.

Security + deals with knowledge of virus removal and prevention.  Also, security deals with audits, protecting systems, authentication, cryptography, access control, etc.  Copper cabling and fiber optic cabling are part of the Network Specialist Diploma.  Certifications are available through C-Tech.
