FedEx donates $50k worth of aircraft engines to TCATs Nashville and Morristown
FedEx recently donated $50,000 worth of state-of-the-art aircraft engines to Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology Nashville and Morristown. Each engine, valued at $25,000, will be used by students in each of
the colleges' Aviation Maintenance Technology programs. The engines, each weighing approximately 6,200 lbs and measuring 12' long, will allow students to participate in valuable hands-on training with the most
recent aviation technology available. The aviation maintenance technology programs teach students how to inspect, repair, service, and overhaul airframe and power plant systems. In addition, the programs
provide training in the electrical and electronics area of the aviation industry. Graduates of the program are eligible to test for Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Licensure for FAA.
TCAT Morristown staff, faculty, and students welcomed the donation of a JT8D-15AQM aircraft engine from FedEx to be used in its aviation maintenance technology program.
